⬆️Today's #Mondaymotivation ⬆️ I don't know about you, but applying this way of thinking to my practice is *very effective* What's more motivating than the idea of embarrassing yourself in front of the whole orchestra It seems like obvious advice but we often practice our concertos assuming we'll never actually play them. Or we think that tricky part in the symphony will be covered up by another section. Or we blindly hack our way through etudes and miss the point entirely. If you practice with the mindset that you will have to play this in front of "everyone," you'll focus more, work towards adding musicality, spend time on technique, and won't skip over the hard parts assuming they'll just magically happen (I don't EVER do that ). So if you have something you are working on and just can't get it where you want, try practicing it with the mindset that people will hear it! And then for bonus points, actually work it into your public warm ups! The fastest way to pinpoint all the spots you need to work on, is to play it in public and see where you flub up or panic. Also good advice for baby steps to getting comfortable performing. Don't be that person who "warms up" on an entire concerto.... (#showoff ) but definitely work tricky spots and openings.
