This is a flipper. It is used to train the muscles inside the eyes that control our focus (aka accommodation). The lenses in the flipper bar are of two types: plus (+) and minus (-). The plus lenses allow the eye muscles to relax and the minus lenses force the eyes to work harder or put forth more effort than normal to maintain focus. The challenge of this exercise will increase as the power of the lenses increases. Notice how the image changes as each lens is put in front of the eye. The goal of this training is to quickly adjust focus or clear the plus and minus lenses without delay.
