*************** Saturday afternoon we got a very distressed call from locals in Clondalkin.
A young pony had been running scared along a road in a housing estate. She tried to jump over a wall and impaled her poor body on sharp railings.
Locals managed to get her off, she was only about 8 months old.
My Lovely Horse Rescue rushed to the scene, it was the worst we’d ever been called to.
She lay in pure shock and agony, her stomach torn and her intestines on the ground.
Police and locals assisted us, we tried to keep her as steady and calm as we could while we waited for the vet.
It was the longest 45 minutes ever...
Finally she was out of pain and it was over for her.
We called her Shannon.
Shannon died because of neglect and cruelty.
Shannon died because laws are not enforced.
Shannon died because horses are worthless to so many.
Shannon died because she was allowed roam a housing estate with so many dangers.
