A calm space for caffeine kicks: Located in the suburbs of the South Korean town Cheongju, architecture firm @atmoround_official designed the serene @ilil_coffee. Their aim was to create a sense of home for the guests by building zones that resemble residential living and dining areas. Thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the concrete walls and floor feel surprisingly light, while gravel stones, bright wood and greenery bring nature inside. by @vdpwj for @atmoround_official

Bags and beans: this indulgence in pink is a new commercial project by Turkish-based @gulmeninteriors, a studio founded by husband and wife duo Şeyma İlçel and Ahmet Vedat Gülmen. They created this concept for a new accessories shop in Istanbul with a cute coffee shop area and which is due to open later this year.

Burl is back! We not only see this type of wood reappear in furniture design - as seen in Apparatus' latest furniture collection - but also interior designers show a new interest in the material. Polish @buck.studio recently completed the new @opaslytom.kregliccy restaurant and fitted out large parts of the space with poplar burl, covering walls as well as furniture. We'll definitely have a slice of this: London-based @child.studio conceived a sophisticated pink interior for the new Humble pizzeria in Chelsea. Chieh Huang and Alexey Kostikov cladded the walls and bar counters with Formica laminate panels featuring a linen-like finish - a nod to the down to earth 'Formica caffs' which started popping up in London during the 50s. By framing the panels with cherry wood, choosing mosaic floor tiles and adding lighting by mid-century designers Poul Henningsen, Jacques Biny and Luigi Massoni, the duo elevated this straightforward material and created a welcoming, distinctly contemporary space.

Coffee-colours for caffeine lovers: In Odessa, Ukrainian studio @sivakpartners created an energetic and simultaneously calming interior for the coffee shop ‘Daily’. In the front room, beige and brown hues dominate the space while the black metal lighting as well as the greenery installation bring in some contrast. The mood shifts drastically in the back room, which was conceived as a space to retract from the buzz around the bar: the team opted for dark red walls, black furniture and less daylight to create a calming, almost cocooning atmosphere. by @garets.interior

Gifting a makeover for a birthday could come across as slightly insensitive, but for a restaurant a facelift is obviously less controversial. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Valencia-based El Camerino restaurant, the owner splashed out and asked Spanish design studio @bodegoncabinet to modernise all rooms. Now, guests are greeted at the bar counter with deep red plasterwork and a colourful terrazzo top, both materials popping up again throughout the interior. Shiny brass fixtures, a spectacular ceiling mirror and Yves Klein blue furnishings which dominate the back room bring in vivid contrast, creating an uplifting setting.

Dining for days: The new @the_y_rest is a two-storey gastronomy destination in Moscow offering everything from breakfast to late night drinks. Divided into multiple spaces, New York interior studio @asthetiquegroup gave each room a different look and feel while keeping a sense of continuity throughout by introducing common design features such as the large arches which appear in the lighting, windows or architectural details. Also, the wall colours change in every room but they all stay in the pastel spectrum whereas brushed brass details and lighting appear throughout, underlining this feeling of continuity. by @loskutoff
