FIRST DAY BACK// all good things come to an end... in this case it’s my cycle of sleep, eat, Netflix and repeat Highlight of today though was taking out the ✨ROVER✨during our last after school “card and board games” club meeting! My kiddos helped me name our rover and I’m excited to OFFICIALLY introduce you all to Rover TI-mmy! We pulled out our @splinterwoodworking blocks to create our obstacle course (sorry we didn’t follow the game rules) and feasted on @bitsysbrainfood snacks. (Side note: my students LOVED their Bitsy snacks. One of my students ate FOUR bags of the chocolate beet cookies. YES BEETS! They were definitely a very welcome snack and such a healthy choice!) It was so much fun watching the collaboration and problem solving that my kiddos engaged in. Also check out that @ticalculators inspired finish line! Swipe ➡️ for a video of our close to perfect run! #TIpartner

Imagine this. A school in rural Cambodia with no computers and hundreds of kids who have never used one before but are so eager to learn. One Child Foundation's answer to that is: One teacher. One bike. A few laptops. Loads of passion and enthusiasm. Computer education for 300 students. And it's just a beginning! In December 2017, Anna Idzikowska, founder of One Child Foundation started mobile computer classes in rural areas of Cambodia with a mission to reach out and provide these children with access to quality education. Every day, a teacher rides his bicycle to remote schools in Cambodia with a tin box full of laptops to run these mobile computer classes. As part of the curriculum, the students learn how to type in English and Khmer, how to use Microsoft Word and Excel and all basic computer skills that will assist them in getting jobs in the future. The majority of these students have never used a computer before and are the first ones in their families to master basic computer skills. One Child Foundation is proud to announce that they recently presented certificates to over 60 students who have graduated from a 4-month intense computer course and almost half of them are girls! Leaders in Heels is honoured to be able to donate notebooks and planners to these young girls and to empower them to be successful female leaders in their sphere of influence! We absolutely love the work of One Child Foundation, as we are passionate about providing education to children and equipping young girls to create a better future for themselves. If you would like to further support the work of One Child Foundation, we are informed that they are always on the lookout for preloved good condition laptops and they are also looking for people with graphic design skills who would like to support their marketing and social media efforts. One Child Foundation is currently raising funds for their second mobile computer class that will educate another 300 students. Anna Idzikowska, founder of One Child Foundation was born in 1983 in communist Poland. As the first educated person in her family, it has taken her a lot of courage, hard work, determination and perseverance to get to where she is today. On her journey, she has also crossed path with many amazing people who encouraged her to overcome her challenges and to keep pursuing her dreams. She distinctly remembers being gifted her first computer and because of that generous gift, she was able to graduate with a Master's Degree in Software Engineering with flying colours. Now, at the age of 35, living a comfortable and abundant life, Anna sensed her calling is to help others to fulfil their dreams. Anna believes that passion and purpose are often found in the things that break our hearts, and she discovered that her heart breaks for children who do not have access to education and therefore, unable to break out of a life of poverty and struggle. In December 2017, she founded One Child Foundation with a mission to provide children in rural areas of Cambodia access to quality education and to equip them with basic computer skills because she believes that changing one child's life can have a ripple effect that we can't possibly imagine! During her last visit to Cambodia, Anna ran a Leadership Workshop for young Cambodian women and men, where they explored their strengths, talked about achieving goals and being successful, looked into self-limiting beliefs and how to leverage positive self-talk. As part of the Leadership Workshop, they also practised interview skills and techniques that will greatly assist them in their future job interviews. Leaders in Heels is incredibly honoured to donate our notebooks and planners to inspire and empower these young Cambodian women! We absolutely love the work that Anna is doing in Cambodia. She is truly an inspirational and phenomenal woman who is living a life on purpose!
