I am posting a random photo because I’ve been asked why I haven’t posted lately. Honestly I just wanted a break from social media. I needed to focus on myself and my mental health. I’ve always been honest with you guys and I’m not going to force myself to create new content to look and feel relevant.. i will never fake a life for social media when the truth is that I’m not doing much at the moment. Except focus on myself and the people around me. Social media can be a wonderful place to spread love and positivity but you can also get caught up in it and forget what’s important. Last Wednesday we had a workshop from @judith_maas of @ikbenopje.nl about social media and what holds you back from showing your true self. She asked about our insecurities and I told her that my height used to be one of them. She told me I should use it as a strength and tell my story. Soooo here it is . As a little girl I always wanted to become a model. Whenever they made the predictions about my height I always hoped it would be longer than 1.70 M. But that didn’t happen and I became 1.65 M instead. Those 5 CM that I come short made it impossible for me to actually become a model. Atleast, that’s what I always thought! Last year I decided to give it ago despite my length and I actually did some photoshoots! I was so proud of myself and I decided to not let my height insecurities get into my way any longer. . Also in the pageant world height is still seen as an important factor. I signed myself up anyways because this is what I always wanted to do and I wanted to show how powerful petite women can be! And that is exactly what I did during the final of @missbeauty_noordbrabant and I even won the title! Now during the national trajectory I might still be one of the shortest girls in the group, but I don’t let that take the best out of me. I’m super proud to stand where I stand today and will proudly represent the petite girls and my province during the final of @missbeautyofthenetherlands . Today, I learned how to let go. ⁣ ⁣ Hanging out with my niece turned more into a life lesson then babysitting. ⁣ ⁣ I watched her dance with her soul. No choreography. No care of who would see (she knew I was videoing). Singing with her best worst voice as loud as she could. She was happy and 100% herself. ⁣ ⁣ As kids, we haven’t faced the moments of “you won’t be good enough.. pretty enough.. smart enough..” yet. ⁣ As adults, we’ve went through these moments and most of them have been a factor on why we live the way we do or hide parts of who we are so we don’t feel rejection. ⁣ ⁣ We find ourselves so caught up in the mix of life. We dwell on the tough times and end up controlling the next days emotions or don’t know how to just stop, and dance through life. ⁣ ⁣ I’m definitely a culprit of this. Today, my niece asked me to dance and sing in the video with her. The old me wouldn’t dare show myself unless it was behind filters and a fake smile looking like I was doing fine. ⁣ ⁣ Today, I let go. I danced however my heart felt to with the beat of my own drum. Around in circles, in the house then found ourselves outside. ⁣ ⁣ Don’t forget the importance of simply living in the moment.
