The Last of Us made me invested in its story and characters in 30 minutes. God of War made me invested in its story and characters in 15 minutes. Days Gone couldn't make it upon hours and hours of gameplay and I don't think it ever will. This is not a review by any means just simply first impressions, and truth be told, my first impressions are very mixed. I've seen this game getting some bad reviews and I saw it getting really positive ones. And TBH I don't believe neither of them are true, cause Days gone sitts just perfectly in between them with a potential of becoming a really good game, after certain fixes. The framerate is just terrible and the amount of blackscreens before loading a cutscene or segments of gameplay is astounding. Sometimes characters just barely say one sentence in a cutscene and... black screen. They walk 30 seconds, say 2 more words and... black screen. It doesn't help that the story is not the greatest itself, I've been playing quite a lot and not that many interesting things happened. Bunch of bike chases, couple of fetch quests and mildly interesting dialogues between mildly interesting characters. But Days gone absolutely delivers in terms of exploration, combat &zombies. I will never forget that feeling of defeating the entire horde of zombies for the first time (well, I will never forget just seeing one for the first time). The game looks beautiful and is still a pleasure to play but I can't stop thinking about technical issues and poor design choices (like actually being tied to your bike, you can't even save the game when you're not close to it). If I had to give it a score (which I actually dislike, but somehow people always think you hated the game if you simply point out its flaws ). I would give it 7/10 now.
