CDT 2019 redux
For so long envisioned my self standing here with some cheesy cardboard crown. I thought being here at the end of my hike meant everything, but it wasn’t meant to be and I’ve been able to make peace with it. Besides I’m in #Glaciernationalpark in peak wildflower season! Hands down the most amazing park I’ve hiked through. Just wait to see some of the photos. For now ✌❤️&’s

This road has rich history! 1862- wagon train develops a crude path over the continental divide. In the 1870s, John Rollins developed a toll road that helped ranchers move cattle between the Front Range and agricultural valleys to the west. Rollins Pass, as well as the small town of Rollinsville, are named in his honor. In the early 1900s, an enterprising railroad developer named David Moffat engineered a railway that replaced the old toll road. In 1905, the Needle’s Eye Tunnel near the summit of the pass was built for the railroad. Before the Moffat Tunnel was opened in 1928, trains on the Denver and Salt Lake Railroad had to cross the Continental Divide via Rollins Pass at an elevation of about 11,670 feet. This was the highest railroad pass in America and included several covered trestles to keep the train moving in winter . Rollins pass railway was shut down after the Moffat tunnel was completed. In 1955 the road was re-opened for 4x4 travel. remnants of the tracks and trestles are still in place. Overlanding back in the 1870s must have been a hell of a time. #coloradohistory #rollinspass #continentaldivide #toyotatruck #toyotacamper #truckcamper #trucktopper #toyota4x4 #toyota4wd #adventuremore #crawlandhaul #sluiceboxcampers #smalltruckcampers #toyotaadventurerigs #hilux4x4 #toyotahilux #toyotafirstgen #trasharoo #overland #overlandadventure #classictoyotatrucks
They aren’t the ancient forests of the White Mountains, but Colorado’s Bristlecones date back to the 9th and 10th centuries, that’s impressive itself. This night, there were more meteors than I’d seen in a long, long time. The second image captured one of the brightest and loudest I’ve ever heard... The snow on the road in required about a miles worth of extra hiking which was good, expect my jacket was NOT packed as I thought it was, so I grabbed my wool blanket, and used it as a shawl to stay warm for the next three hours.

Pt 2 of the “I’m Stumped” Series. Which one do like best? .
.
.
I think you’ll agree and see why I wanted to make this a series. While I was here shooting there was several comp opportunities and I’m the type that once I get several shots in a position I like to move around a bit and see what other shots may be available so I have a variety to choose from. I liked how I was able to set up and get this downed tree leading you into the frame and some more epic reflections. Hope you enjoy!
I you CDT, and I will you some day ••• .
