Can I confess something? I hate when people ask me what I do for a living.
No, it’s NOT because I hate my job. I actually love to work more than words can describe! I find a deep, rich, rewarding satisfaction in my work. I’ve achieved more, earned more, dreamed more, and enjoyed more from a career than I thought possible. And that’s why I hate answering the question - I can’t sum it up very quickly, so I end up saying “I’m a photographer.”
People make assumptions about me because:
1. I am a woman.
2. I am a MARRIED woman.
3. I am a YOUNG woman.
I struggle with not being taken seriously. I’m a 3 on the Enneagram - The Achiever. I want to be successful - in my own eyes AND the eyes of others. Not only that, but I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve built and accomplished in 4 years and want everyone to know it! So the simple question - what do you do? - has become an important lesson in pride and self-worth. Case in point: A stranger in the elevator does NOT need to know how much money I make, where I’ve been published, or what my future business plans are. It literally does not matter. Now let’s get back to work
Hey I’m Michelle Calloway, I’m an artsy girl from Waterloo, Iowa who never quite felt like she fit in. I’m a photographer, Creative Director, mother, wife, coffee lover and fitness addict! When I moved to Los Angeles at 22 I had never been there, only had $500 to my name and knew 1 person. Sounds crazy right? Well at the time it made a lot of sense, lol!
⚡️
Recently, I’ve made it my mission to help support those crazy ideas in others and to share my journey with you all. That’s why I’ve been posting more on Instagram lately, you may have noticed? I love this community of people here on Instagram and I’m passionate about sharing my skills and talents with you in any way I can.
⚡️
One way of serving this community lately has been the photo shoot giveaway I decided to do two weeks ago! I curated an entire glam squad team for one lucky lady and today I announced the winner over on my ig stories! (Go take a look) Over 100 women entered just on my page alone! So thank you to all to who entered, I am truly humbled and blown away!
⚡️
So I’d love to hear more about you? What do you do? Entrepreneur? Artist?

What an amazingly crazy fun week! I got to host my first “Artist Talk” in real like aka IRL!! I sat down with our current exhibition artist at @space.42 artist @elena_ohlander and chatted about her recent show and inspiration behind the work.
✨
Can I just say I LOVE interviewing people. Part of my work as a photographer stems from my fascination of people and their stories. That’s probably why I love hearing people’s stories. Call me the Oprah of art! Haha!
For those of you that don’t know I also host the @artisttalkpodcast which is the digital version of a real in person artist talk. I interview artists and creative entrepreneurs from all over the country about their biggest hurdles and successes. If you’d like to check it out it’s in iTunes and SoundCloud! Otherwise click the link in the bio from out Instagram for the latest episode.
Who is an artist that inspires you and you wish you could interview then in real life? Comment down below!

What are you doing Tuesday night at 6:30pm? Coming to my free yoga class for creatives? You should! It's FREE and open to creative entrepreneurs of all types! It's being held in North East Minneapolis, hopefully outdoors, so check out the link in my profile for the event info! If you have questions, slide into my DMs- would LOVE to see you there!
Are you the mom you thought you'd be? Better? Not so much? I think any and all of us moms (whether by birth or other means) can relate to having this question pop into our heads from time to time... I thought I'd be an awful mom and didn't want children...mostly because I didn't want to pass on the abuse. And then I became pregnant (I've talked about this on the show before) and now I have three I love dearly and....I'm actually a pretty damn good mom who just so happens to mess up in pretty big ways but still... This week's #goingtherewithjen 's guest - Anna Holden of @sensitivity_uncensored - shares with us about the ego-shattering she experienced when she realized she wasn't the mom she'd always envisioned she'd be. Not good, bad, right, or wrong...just not what she'd pictured and again - I think most of us can relate when Anna shares her thoughts on the baby stage.
This conversation is RICH with relatable humanness from Anna's path through birth and motherhood, learning your bandwidth for creativity, and lots lots more.
