It was so flippin’ fun to learn how to crochet a rug last weekend with selvedge scraps from Pendleton Woolen Mills that would’ve otherwise headed to the landfill! (I wonder how much a 100% wool rug like this would cost new? ) This is the thickest, softest, cushiest rug I’ve ever stepped on, and we learned all kinds of amazingness about wool at our class. It’s fire-resistant (makes a great spark-resistant rug in front of a fireplace!), it’s an odor neutralizer (it will absorb the odor in a room and neutralize it), and its lanolin kills fleas (one of these rugs would make a sweet doggy bed...). Got my very mushroomey tree installed in the cabin and I'm so excited, so happy to have a new piece on the unfinished wall. Onward to more ferns, insects, mushrooms and crystals!

I am so proud of this quilt. I was inspired by the #improvquilt pattern from Making Zine no. 6. Mine has much bigger shapes and is made from 100% secondhand materials. Bedsheets, pillowcases, a thrifted fleece blanket (they make great batting) and even some linen leftovers from my early foray into dressmaking. Actually the whole back of the quilt is that leftover linen... - I handquilted this baby with a large running stitch and a quilting hoop to keep some sort of tension on the layers. IDK if quilting hoops are actually helpful considering they’re kind of fussy and require constant readjusting. But it’s working for me at the moment and considering a quilt once ever two years or so... I think I can handle a fussy quilting hoop (but I’m open to suggestions!).
