It is brutally hot out there but it was nice and cool in the studio today! I am finishing up reading Present Over Perfect, a wonderful book about making sure to schedule much needed rest and margin in your life. In today's always-busy-on-the-go-must-keep-moving world, this resonated so deeply with me. Especially for us moms, we are constantly feeling the pressure to say yes and serve others. We *want* to do it all, helping everyone around us, but by saying yes to everything, we are ultimately saying no to some important areas of our lives. The author, Shauna Niequist, explains how she learned to slow down and appreciate the silence and space that saying no can give. It was exactly what I needed in the busy season of life and was such a hopeful and positive message. What is the best book you've read lately? Today is the last day of school for my middle child which means, going forward, I will have all three kids at home with me for the summer. Pray for me. To keep everyone happy and sane on the days you don't have any plans, do you use a set daily schedule for consistency? Or do you try to avoid planning too much so you can keep your days open and flexible? My kids tend to do better with a routine but I also wonder if they need a bit of a break after the school year ends. What works for your family in the summer? I'm in need of all the ideas! Before having a million kids (ok, it's only three but sometimes it feels like a million ), whenever I would get stressed or in need of a break, I used to run. It always helped to clear my mind and left me feeling energized and positive. But in this season of life, I've found it harder to make time for that much needed self care. I know I need to make it a priority and whenever I do I feel *SO* much better! So this week my goal is to start getting up earlier and heading out for a run first thing. What do you do for self care? GUYS. This baby was such a dream and his strawberry blond hair is killing me! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Did you know a sitter session (anywhere from about 6-9 months) is one of the best times to get photos of your baby? It's this perfect time in their development where they are sitting unassisted but not yet walking. They haven't really fallen into stranger danger yet and are playful and full of smiles.
