BAGS AND LEGENDS
Do you know the Sicilian legend of the moor's heads?
It is an ancient legend that speaks of love and revenge. A Sicilian girl and a young Moor fell madly in love. But, she discovered that he would soon abandon her to return to his land, in the East, where his wife and childrens awaited him.
It was then, that the girl crazy about pain, waited for the night, and as soon as he closed his eyes, she killed him, cutting off his head. Then she made, with his cutted head, a vase that she display ed on her balcony and in this vase she planted the basil.
The basil that she watered every day with her bitter tears, grew every day flourishing and beautiful, arousing the envy of all the inhabitants of the neighborhood, that asked to the artisans of the Village to build for them pottery vases in the shape of moor's head.
.
And so the tradition began!
