Had such a great time in Milwaukee racing Tour of American Dairylands. Some solid racing and defiantly pushed myself out of my comfort zone racing an 11 day crit series but learnt a hell of a lot. Great country, even better people and a ripper crew to go with it! When I first turned up at crits with my camera just over 3 years ago I knew no one, was really shy and didn’t ever imagine that taking photos would ever lead me to finding a community that would give me so many supportive, wonderful, inspiring, motivating, encouraging, kind and generous people. In a word: spectacular. @mike__mcm and I converged at the @trekprocity store this morning and, both being first-timers to Victoria, set off for our first proper ride. A double espresso stashed in my bar bag, we jumped onto the @tourdevictoria 160k route, resolved to see how much of it we could fit into our window of opportunity. In short order we couldn’t contain our glee: “Whoa!” “What!?!” “Sikkkk!” “That ground-cover is like a sea of multi-tone green pillows!” It didn’t take long to understand why Victoria is a cycling hotbed, and how densely the region is patterned with roads of fantastically enticing and entertaining contour. Before Mike and I wrapped up our 100k ride, having had to chop off the route’s balance, we agreed it would be spectacular to return each March for riding and family time, and that the @tourdevictoria has to be one of the best cycling events in North America.
