I've been pretty absent on Instagram lately so I thought I'd give an update which might also explain my absence. . 2019 has been a huge year for our family. We've been busy & we've been making some big changes. . On April 25th we added twin girls to our family. They're lovely & sweet & paid for in cash . On May 6th my husband handed in his resignation from the managerial position he has held for the past 10 years. He was offered a job that would allow him to spend much more time at home. His current position has him working 7 days a week, 16+ hours a day for about 8-9 months out of the year (closer to 18-20 hours per day for 3-4 of those months). The kids & I miss him dearly. . We listed our house for sale today. We have until January 2020 before we NEED to sell but can move anytime before then. We aren't rushed but felt like this is the right time to list our home. . On June 17 my husband will start his new job. This job will allow him more family time but it comes at a cost. He will be taking a $10K pay cut. To us, it is worth it. If we weren't debt free & budgeting, he wouldn't be able to accept this new job. To be quite honest, we wouldn't have been interested either. We'd be seeking a pay raise(we're already #teamtinyshovel). . . It's amazing how debt freedom has changed our priorities. Our family comes first. We aren't chasing the dollar anymore. We aren't worried about what the Joneses are up to. We're content with what we have & more than happy to live below our means. . We started our debt free journey in April 2017 when we found out we were expecting baby #3. Every year, month, week, day, & minute on this journey I'm more & more grateful for our financial, lifestyle, emotional, & mental transformation. . I JUST COULDN’T WAIT!!! . I used $492.63 from today’s paycheque and $997.58 from my $1,500 emergency fund to COMPLETELY PAY OFF MY CREDIT CARD . The idea of doing this may make some people sweat because now I am down to a $500 emergency fund - however, I feel comfortable enough because I have some support should I need it that would save me from having to take on debt again, if an emergency arose. . I’ll be building my EF back up to $1500+ over the next little while. . I decided about a week ago I was gonna so this. I did it. I’m so happy and I’m so proud. . I paid off $6,500.00 in ~3.5 months. . Paying off debt and managing money used to be such a huge cause of anxiety for me. Now, I am enjoying life thoroughly within the confines of my budget, within my means. I am enjoying life much MORE thoroughly now, actually. . I have GOALS and I am WORKING to achieve them. The idea of being free from all these debts gives me such feelings of excitement and happiness. I cannot wait! . Now I have to decide which debt I want to pay off next. Gonna ask the opinion of dfc on this one. .
