Travel doesn’t have to be expensive! When people ask me how I afford to travel so much (literally all the time), usually I say it’s because I work full time from my laptop.
.
But for anyone else who thinks that working remotely is not an option for them, prioritizing travel experiences over material things, and seeking out lower-cost destinations can give you the travel-life too... pre-retirement!
.
This place I’ve been posting about the last few days is the perfect example— Colombia is easily accessible from pretty much the whole of North and South America so there are lots of cheap flights, and conversion rates from dollars or Euros is really, really favorable. Not only that, because Colombia is not an insta-famous destination (yet!), you’ll never be grossly overcharged for what you’re getting.
.
I really can’t recommend visiting Colombia enough to anyone, and if you’re looking for an affordable and outdoorsy beach destination, go to the Santa Marta region, immediately escape the city and head straight to a beach resort. I loved this one, @labrisatranquila in Guachaca, but there are plenty others to suit all kinds of travelers. No matter what, you’ll get a lot more out of your vacation funds here than many other hotspots.
.
.
Besides Colombia, what are your favorite affordable travel destinations?

⛅️ “A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition.” ☀️

⠀⠀
AKA: Your circumstances do not define you.
⠀⠀
AKA: Your mindset is more powerful than your situation.
⠀⠀
Story: A friend yesterday posted a story about getting pulled over by a police officer. She talked about all the things that went through her mind:
⠀⠀
1️⃣shock and anxiety at getting pulled over,
⠀⠀
2️⃣then acknowledging that she was indeed doing something wrong and she deserved the ticket,
⠀⠀
3️⃣accepting that she must take ownership of the consequence (and the ticket she received) and wishing the officer well,
⠀⠀
4️⃣then, declaring that this was NOT going to ruin her day because it’s a beautiful day and she wouldn’t let it!
⠀⠀
Needless to say, I was inspired. (Even though I am a therapist, I have been farrr from this level headed when I’ve been pulled over. Therapists are humans too.)
⠀⠀
Here’s to a weekend that is no match for your mindset!

This week I’m going over my top 10 strategies that I teach on how to organically and effortlessly add bulk to your discovery call game.
⠀
The third strategy is to get the most out of hashtags, something I go into super detail in Week 5 of Influencer School.
⠀
So one of the easiest ways to be found for your expertise is to trend in the hashtags. I trend and few times a week so here’s how it works.
⠀
One thing that you can do to signal to Instagram that you’re a top influencer for a certain hashtag is to go and consistently like the top six photos that are trending in that hashtag daily (or nicely ask your assistant to.)
⠀
Then take a look at the accounts that are trending, and of course be true to yourself but also check that your bio and positioning is unique and conveys why you’re different so that people choose to follow you and go through your funnel over the other people that are trending.
⠀
If you’re a mindset coach, what sets you apart? Do you have a proprietary approach, a unique way that you support someone in elevating their mindset and consciousness that no one else does? Make that clear.
⠀
Then when you post, choose a photo and a caption that inspires or educates your potential audience to want to follow and connect with you more!
⠀
One of the biggest keys for trending in a hashtag is the amount of likes and comments that you get within a short period of time so make sure that you’re putting out great content that people want to like and comment on.
⠀
Let me know in the comments your top Instagram strategy

I feel like I’ve been saying this for two weeks now but as always the last 10% of the job take the longest. ♂️
.
This is mostly due to my perfectionism and also lack of clear planning.
.
When you work alone, it’s very easy to let good work habits slip. No one will be there to tell you when you’re skipping steps or when you’re not repeating the workflow that worked well last time.
.
I wonder how much I’m learning (beyond just programming) by working by myself. It surely improves my discipline, planning skills etc but somehow I can’t really feel it. I guess I’ll realise how much I learnt whenever I start working on something else different than iOS stuff (maybe in a few years)
.
To Indie devs, freelancers, self-employed folks out there... how do you stick to good business habits when nobody is here to tell you what to do and how to do it? Any tips? ♂️

Happy earth day! Recently someone on Instagram sent me a DM asking if I care about my carbon footprint at all seeing as I’m always sitting on airplanes, and if there’s anything I consciously do to lower it.
.
So, do I care?
.
Of course! In my 5+ years of travel I’ve found myself in many cities with so much smog I couldn’t even see the skyline, seen beautiful beaches filled with plastic, and even been surprised with sunburn due to not realizing there was a hole in the local Ozone. I really have no choice but to be conscious of the environment and my effect on it, and I think most world travelers would agree with this too.
.
What do I do about it?
.
My biggest contribution is that I gave up eating meat shortly after I became nomadic/once I realized that animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all the world's transportation systems *.*
.
Speaking of transportation, I don’t own a car and almost always opt to walk if the trip is 40 minutes or less. I love to use bicycle sharing companies within a city, and when I go from destination A to B (which I’m trying to do less of by staying in each place longer), I’m usually on a bus or train which means that the emissions are shared among all passengers.
.
Finally, living out of a suitcase forces me to live minimally. I can only own what I can carry, which makes me think long and hard before I buy anything new and thus has significantly lowered my goods consumption compared to when I actually had my own place. When I do have to buy something, I always make an effort to avoid taking a plastic bag or bottle. I’ll fill up my own purse (I always have a huge one to fit my laptop!) with whatever can fit in it and carry around my own metal water bottle.
.
Small actions from a large number of people can lead to serious impact! Do you have any more tips for me on how travelers can lower our carbon footprints?
