[Girls go GLAMPING]...waking up this morning from our cosy glamp pod @podumnavillage . With busy lives, it’s not often we get the opportunity to spend quality time together, and this was the perfect location for some girl chats with the 3 closest ladies to my heart-my mum, sister and daughter. A fantastic place to visit, the kids of the camp had a fabulous time searching for fairies until almost midnight and we may have had a few respectable beverages. Fury-The Hero Dog. At Portumna Castle, a local tradition tells of how a girl fell from a window from Portumna Castle and a dog lying underneath broke her fall. The girl survived while unfortunately the dog suffered a broken back and died. A commerative plaque dating April 1797 was erected outside the porch in memory of the dog 'Fury' that saved the girl's life. Archaeological digs in 1997 uncovered the remains of a small dog with indications of suffering from a broken back. Nails were also recovered at eack corner of the grave suggesting a coffin was used to bury the hero. The remains suggest the dog reached maturity and local traditions say that the dog was 11 years of age.
