When people ask me how I got so good with dogs....the answer...ive been in the game for a while now and had a lot of practice learning and adjusting from the mistakes that I’ve made. Here’s a #throwback to when baby Blake and baby @cesarsway first met and we’re passionate about getting better and changing the world one dog at a time. It’s been too long old friend. We need to grab lunch soon #faceappchallenge

Far too many times I hear "Don't worry MY dog is friendly" without asking about the other dog, or waiting for permission to let your dog enter another dogs personal space. . This can lead to a very uncomfortable situation for a dog on leash and since "Flight" is not an option many dogs go into their "Fight" response. Also consider the other might also have a high prey drive for small dogs, be fearful, sick or in training. . . Please be respectful of other dogs on leash and always ask permission before letting your dog approach another dog on leash, and please don't be offended if they say "No" . _______ #pleaseshare #caninecohenclub #dogbehaviormodification #norandomleashmeetings #brooklyndogtraining #barktrainlove #getdogucated #advocateforalldogs #smalldogsneedtrainingtoo #pitbulladvocate #dogsofinstagram #dogreactivity #dogaggression #dogaggressionrehabilitation #dog #barkpost #citydog #muttsofinstagram #dogofinstagram #dogs_of_instagram #dogsofnyc #dogsofinstaworld #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingadvice #advocateforyourdog #dogs #dogtrainingmeme

We couldn’t be prouder of this big bull! Bronx came to ACS for help with his extreme aggression towards other dogs. He had been in multiple fights, one which ended with serious injuries on both sides, was hunting the neighbors dogs and couldn’t be walked in his neighborhood for fear of pulling his owners down when he saw another dog. Before his training this level of focus and reliability would have been impossible!! Check him out when we encounter other random barking dogs, he doesn’t even flinch!! Transformed from extremely dog aggressive and unmanageable to a fun, safe and reliable machine!! With clear communication systems in place and the right training approach, anything is possible!!! | Follow @bronxandbettedavis to see updates on Bronx and his girlfriend Bette | @daisyfuentes @therichardmarx | #advancedcaninesystems #acsdogs

Moose and Jo hard at work Helping us with proper socialization for one of our training clients, @macchiatosnores This awesome girl was adopted from a shelter in the South Bay. Shortly after being adopted, like a lot of bully breeds, she suffered a torn ACL that needed surgery. After she recovered from surgery they began taking her out again but started seeing signs of reactivity and aggression. A friend referred them to @sonomacountycanine and we have had such a great time working with them. She is an extremely motivated dog with absolutely dedicated parents, what we strive for when adopting out dogs. It’s important to remember it’s not just about adopting dogs out, it’s about keeping them in responsible homes that will follow through #breedambassador

Well hello there, pretty lady.⁣ ⠀⁣ This is Lucy, the day she went home.⁣ ⠀⁣ Lucy’s owners came to us for help. She’d been seriously reactive to other dogs on leash. Pulling, lunging, crying, and barking. It was frustrating for the owners, to say the least, especially with another young dog and a child in the home. “Can’t I just walk my damn dog!?”⁣ ⠀⁣ Okay, okay so we see this all the time, but what’s so special about Lucy, you might ask?⁣ ⠀⁣ Lucy’s got some serious obedience skills. She’s already had a ton of foundation since her owners have spent time and resources on early training with her, with a couple different trainers. She can flip back into heel position, recall like a bullet, and jump onto “place” ready for the next command. She’s even been trained for detection and is one of the most fun and intelligent dogs we’ve worked with in awhile.⁣ ⠀⁣ So what was missing? What were we left to accomplish with her if she had all these fancy commands? Why did the owners still need help?⁣ ⠀⁣ The answer? Calm.⁣ ⠀⁣ Lucy had never been taught to be calm. She’d been taught to be excited to work, to move fast, to always be on alert. All things we love to see in dogs IF we can also have the counter part; the calm.⁣ ⠀⁣ If we actually address the mindset, we can finally address the behavior - the reactivity. Now we have a dog who is moving slower, thinking more clearly, and looking to us to provide information and guidance, as opposed to reacting to every little thing that bothers her while she’s stuck in that toxic, aroused mental state.⁣ ⠀⁣ It’s why you won’t hear us talking about all the fancy commands your dog will learn during their stay with us.⁣ ⠀⁣ Trust us. There’s nothing fancy about it.⁣ ⠀⁣ It’s why we focus so much on calm and how what you bring to the equation can actually affect the outcome. It allows us to get to the bottom of the underlying issues, reshape those behaviors, and over time, transform your life with your dog as a whole. @luxe.imagery

Throwback to Jacob as an unfulfilled, dominant puppy. I didn’t rise to the challenge until he was around 2 years old! We were a mess! . Everything about his posture screams “I’m the boss, & I am NOT pleased!” His forward-pricked ears, high-and-tight tail, wide stance, & leaning forward says it all. And oh the noise, destruction, & bullying... It was nonstop! I don’t think he was ever happy or relaxed for one second. . Jacob would bark incessantly in my face, “human, you will do my bidding!” every time I was near. The only time I liked him was when he was asleep—which definitely wasn’t at night because he would cry, scratch, & projectile-shit every night! . I failed so badly at raising this dominant, high-energy pup that he became horribly aggressive on top of everything else. I had no control, but it wasn’t for lack of trying! I was using every training method/tool I could find online. Unfortunately, I was missing the one key ingredient—true leadership. Jacob was reacting to my energy, & I couldn’t see it because I was NOT self-aware. I just kept blaming him. . I often talk about Jacob’s difficult puppyhood & my own struggles to become a worthy Pack Leader because I want you to know that anyone can do it. We didn’t start as a team whatsoever. We kind of hated each other! I didn’t become a dog trainer/behaviorist until he was already full grown. . It doesn’t matter where you begin, or how bad it got, or how long it’s been happening. That’s the awesome thing about animals—they don’t live in the past. They’re fully present in this moment. . That means that we can help them fully rehabilitate from just about anything, very very quickly. In fact, once I got help (by hiring a behaviorist, actually!) Jacob turned around & matured into the dog you know today. That behaviorist was able to get QUICK results by immersing Jacob in a huge pack of balanced dogs, sometimes 100 strong. He couldn’t fight them all. He had no choice but to become part of that balanced pack, & adopt their primal social skills. . The only time we should look back is to see how far we’ve come. Although embarrassing, I love using our past to empower other owners. You got this!

Going to miss Scooby man when he goes home tomorrow, although we know he will be happy to see mom and dad. We are stoked at his progress so far and can't wait to continue seeing improvement. All it takes is fair and consistent training and exercise #ScoobySFK9 #boardandtrain #behaviorrehabilitation #dogaggression #multibreedpack

Jersey’s main priority has become her major dog aggression in very select situations: with me on a leash with other unconfined dogs around. Being a gator, this isn’t too shocking but something we need to get a grip on before she turns into a mean grown dog. Initially she would be at the end of my leash going berserk at the sight of another dog, but today she showed major major progress. We & the other handler/dog were loose leash walking in circles and she was making conscious decisions to look at me after looking at the other dog. We have worked through this extensively with positive reinforcement, but some corrections as well to interrupt her psycho self. Today she was also doing obedience in a highly distracting environment (sound up) & was uncomfortable but not aggressive. The journey continues, but today we made leaps & bounds
