"This is a "tank cleaning" session at Churaumi Aquarium. Every time someone buys a ticket to see a dolphin show, they contribute to the suffering of these sentient animals. ⚠️ TAKE ACTION through the link in our bio! ⚠️ #DolphinProject #ThanksButNoTanks #Dolphins #BottlenoseDolphin @dolphin_project" Via @respectanimalrights

"As a result of the psychological stress and boredom that comes from living in a tank, captive #dolphins are sometimes seen exhibiting stereotypic behavior, which is also commonly referred to as "zoochosis." These behaviors are usually repetitive and don't appear to have any particular function. Frequently seen examples are bar biting, logging (floating motionless), lying on the bottom of their tank, repeatedly beaching themselves on slideouts, self-mutilation, regurgitation, and aggression towards other animals to name a few. How many can you see in this video taken at #EnoshimaAquarium?⁣ #DolphinProject #DontBuyATicket - Via @dolphin_project @worldanimalnews_ - @worldanimalnews_ @peace_4animals #WorldAnimalNews"

Although dolphinariums would like their customers to believe otherwise, captive dolphin aggression towards people isn't that uncommon! Here are two incidents that happened during shows at Enoshima Aquarium.⁣⠀ #DolphinProject #DontBuyATicket

Taranto, Italy: The Gulf of Taranto is home to our friends and colleagues, Jonian Dolphin Conservation (JDC), which has carried out scientific research and protection of the gulf’s dolphins. Species found in this area include striped dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, common dolphins and Risso’s dolphins. There’s also a chance of spotting other cetacean species such as pilot whales, false killer whales and killer whales, rough toothed dolphin, fin whales and sperm whales. JDC offers eco tours that not only support their research and conservation efforts but also introduce tourists and the local community to the dolphins and their marine habitat. This might be the best dolphin watching experience in Europe. We are currently researching the possibility of creating a dolphin retirement project with #JonianDolphinConservation #dolphinproject
