One of my favorite photos from @evijanku... I don’t know.. I just look at this photo and feel such a positive energy, there I am close to my favorite habitat - the ocean - absorbing the sun, open to the new day and what’s coming ahead, smiling

I can say these have been the most intense years of my life... coming to Dubai (3 years ago) was a rollercoaster of feelings... my adaption, my feelings towards the city, my job... Looking back I can see that slowly I was finding my way, that the universe kept guiding me, giving me signs, and I was just going with it... not knowing where it would lead me... as scary as it is! .
When I first came I wanted to stay at least 3 years... then after few months I only wanted to stay 1 year (if I even managed)... well funny fact is 3 years have past and know I ask myself “where do you see yourself in another year?”... well... as it is important to set goals for years to come, the short term ones are equally or more relevant as these will lead you to the ultimate goal... having said this I think one of the most valuable things I learned is to live in the moment... as surprising as it seems, yes of course I have an ideal in my head but I’m not to stressed about it... the present has been giving me so much to be challenged and thankful with, in a short term I’m very excited about what’s to come, because coming to Dubai and staying all these years gave me the most precious gift I could ask for... I found out about my passions, what drives me, what keeps me happy and healthy body and soul! Now it’s about giving those “baby steps”, learning and trusting the process, that something bigger will come ❤️

Surely, many people are familiar with this subject. Even me when I overeat – I become a sleeping wreck. So, I am generally trying to eat small portions 5 times a day.
Does it sound familiar - after a hearty meal, sometimes you want to lie down and fall asleep? We all know - Food should give us strength and energy. We don’t live for food, but we need food for life!
However, it turns out the opposite – we eat and then we are in a sleeping mode. Why do we get and feel tired after eating?
A lot of carbohydrates in food turn into glucose, and it suppresses the hormone (orexin), which is responsible for wakefulness.
During the meal, the hormone cholecystokinin is also produced in our intestines. It blocks the substances responsible for vigor (norepinephrine and orexin)
Products that cause inflammation, like: omega-6 rich oils, trans fats, gluten - also suppress this hormone.
During the meal, the blood vessels in the gastrointestinal tract expand and the blood concentrates in the stomach and not in the brain. It means that our brain is lacking oxygen and nutrients, and we feel suspend
Insulin is released during any food intake. It helps transport a number of amino acids to the muscles.
But the amino acid tryptophan (a precursor of serotonin and melatonin) remains in the blood that is why drowsiness appears
If your lifestyle is sedentary + eating buns, pastries, carbs, fried fatty foods - it has a negative effect on your energy production.
How to adjust? ☑️Reduce Carbs in your diet
☑️Add anti-inflammatory foods and drugs (like black cumin oil, omega-3, vitamin D, curcumin) to your diet.
☑️If you have or prone to insulin resistance (decrease sensitivity in cell to insulin) and to leptin resistance (decrease sensitivity of tissues to leptin) = eliminate
☑️For energy boost vigorous exercise & coenzyme Q10 intake will help
To do all the above, you need to willingly change or adapt your diet towards more healthy and balanced food, include activity and / or reduce weight.

Saying goodbye to this academic year with a heart full of gratefulness. Being a language teacher in an international school, having to teach from 3 year olds to 17 year olds ain’t that easy! But let me tell you something! It’s oh, so rewarding! I’ve been blessed with wonderful souls from whom I’ve learnt so much too over the past 5 years.
I am now ready to take a well deserved break and come back with fully recharged batteries end of August.
