#xcarveshop ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We often get asked about what our CNC setup looks like, so here it is! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instagram friends, meet #bumblebee - our @inventables 1,000mm #xcarve ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We decided to invest in our CNC in 2018. We saw it as an opportunity to challenge ourselves creatively and to bring our’s and other people’s ideas to life! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our biggest hurdle was the fact that we don’t actually have a shop space or garage to put it in. ‍♂️‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you swipe through the photos, you will see that our CNC is actually located within an enclosure in our carport. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Since our house is in close proximity to multiple other houses, we had the following factors to consider when designing the enclosure: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Sound transmission, - Vibration control, - Dust control, - Children playing nearby, - Fire safety, and - Anti-theft. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our solution was a robust enclosure. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some features of our X-Carve setup and enclosure include: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Torsion box table with rubber top for vibration control, - Automatic IOT spindle relay, - Adjustable speed Shopvac connected to a @thedustopper for dust collection, - 2 x 4 walls with sound insulation in between. - Double layers of 5/8” drywall with green glue sound sealant between, - Operable viewing window with clear acrylic, - Front door with heavy duty lift supports, - Rear door to facilitate large pieces on the CNC, - Sound seals - Heavy duty castors for moving, - Webcam for remote monitoring and security, and - Cool white LED lighting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The message we want you to take away from our setup is to not let hurdles get in the way of the things you want to do; get creative with the hurdles come up with a solution! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you have a CNC? Suck it dust!! I finally got the pieces I needed to hook up my @realsuckitdustboot to my CNC. With a @rockler_woodworking 2.5" static free vacuum hose and a few adapters and a 2x2 and some screws and connectors and zip ties and a bungee cord, we're connected to my @thedustopper and @shopvaccorp vacuum! Thanks @realsuckitdustboot! . Do you have a dust boot on your CNC? How do you have it hooked up? Something like this? Did I go over board? Any way I can simplify it?

As requested, here is a quick test of the dust collection setup for my workbench using the⁣ Dustopper and a 14gal, 6.5hp, 195CFM, Shop-Vac from Costco. Total cost for dustopper, shop vac and connections is about $160. ⁣ ⁣ I cut the beginning of the video down by a minute or so because it was just me routing. I didn’t want you to watch the entire minute of me routing, but I want enough dust to collect in the bucket. ⁣ ⁣ Having both the Dust Deputy (look at my previous posts for the build and test) and the Dustopper in my my garage, I feel they both perform the same. I don’t see the difference. If there’s a difference, it’s negligible. They both function well for my needs. The Shop Vac also comes with 3 dust bags, and I put one in after the test so the chance of me having to ever buy a new filter is minimal. It’ll probably be years before I need to replace the bag! ⁣ ⁣ This test also confirmed that the Shop-Vac is strong enough to pull down all the dust from the routing table so I’m happy with the result. @syd.builds⁣ ⁣ On to the next build! ⁣ ⁣ @terminede @mathew_igram @ddc702

FINALLY finished my portable dust collection system. This is a similiar concept to @johnbuildsit design, but with the 6HP Ridgid Vac system instead. . .
