23 years old and 38 weeks pregnant. I always felt the need to explain my situation. “But I got pregnant in college so....” it took me 6 & 1/2 years to graduate I’m a really unprepared young mom I lived with my in-laws I don’t know what I’m doing with my life I can’t work bc daycare is more expensive than my paycheck The list went on and on. When I look back now I see that becoming a mom was the best decision I ever made. I wish I would have approached it with the confidence I have now. I wish I would have told people I was made for this when they told me I should have an abortion or I wasn’t ready to be a mom. I wish I would have believed in myself then, as much as I do now. But that’s life and hindsight is always 20-20. Sometimes we make questionable choices in our lives. I’ll be the first to tell you I’ve made too many to count. It takes acknowledging mistakes and using them as fuel to propel us in the right direction. Yeah, I got pregnant in college because I was irresponsible, but that event has made me who I am. It has shown me there is so much more to life, all while teaching me lessons I would have never learned. It’s been hard but also invaluable. No matter what you’re going through, there’s room to grow and evolve within the challenges of your situation. Life is hard, but it’s so worth it. I mean... check out that girl’s face. She was made to be a Mama.
