In her bio, artist @lallaessaydi says she « invites the viewers to resist stereotypes. » Her photography practice is focused on deconstructing some of the most enduring stereotypes of all: the representation of Moroccan women and by and large women hailing from the Middle East.
She subverts the codes of orientalism (beautiful women, in sumptuous decor, dressed in lavish outfits laying in languorous postures to confront the normative and sexualised perception of Muslim women dating back to the 19th century’s art paintings.
