Such a beautiful day for a trail run! #triathlontraining is back in full swing with a little 7 miler. It was quite windy today, but the sunshine and warm temp made it tolerable. Glad to be back at it. Seasonal allergies and a busy work schedule have been kicking my butt for the past week. .

For whatever run I am participating in, whether it’s a half marathon (favs!), full marathon, 10-miler, and so on, almost nothing changes in my workout routine besides that I log extra long runs on the weekend. -
I typically stick to my regular training & cross training, the only difference is I typically save up more of my mileage for weekend BUT {the only time I step back from training is the week of the run}! Which is this week!!

MK Tip and Talk: for me, it’s imperative going into races with a fresh body and fresh legs. So the week up to my run: I walk daily, then mid week I do a 30-35 min jog, then continue to walk walk walk. I incorporate mobility drills, stretching, foam rolling and breathing

When it comes to fitness-You need to listen to your body. You have to do what works for you. I spent yearssssss of trial and error in the gym, different types of training...to finally figure out what I like/want to do, what my goals are, and to get to where I am now. Every body is unique. Every body is made differently. Everyone has different goals. Some may have certain injuries-low back pain, bad knees, scoliosis, poor posture, etc. What works for me, may not be what works for you. What I’m doing- may not be what you want to do. And that’s ok! I respect all types of training. Every single person has to have a unique training style that will work for them. If something hurts- don’t do it. Not everybody has the same range of motion. Not everyone squats will look the same. Modify your workout to do what WORKS FOR YOU!! I can’t stress this enough. Your goal may be to body build, strength train, improve endurance, improve power, tone, lose weight, be healthy, maintain what you have, flatter tummy, build a butt, the list goes on and on. That requires different ways of training. You gradually get better and build that strength over years of working at something. Don’t worry about what everybody else is doing. Worry about YOU!!!! There is no race! There is no end point!! Your health is forever! ! Hope everybody enjoys their Friday •
