Court Culture Festival
It is a ceremony where a newly wedded daughter-in-law comes to the shrine and greets the ancestor. It is one of the ceremonies included in the wedding ceremony, and it is the only event in which the royal women participated in the national ceremony held at Jongmyo. ✉
묘현례는 새로 신부가 된 며느리가 시가의 사당에 나가 조상님께 인사를 드리는 예식입니다. 혼례에 포함되는 의식의 하나이자, 종묘에서 행한 국가 의례 가운데 왕실 여성이 참여한 유일한 행사이기도 하지요. ‘혼례 가운데 가장 큰 것은 친영(親迎: 신랑이 신부의 집에 가서 식을 올리고 신부를 데려오는 것)이지만, 묘현을 한 다음에야 며느리가 되어 자리를 정하는 것이다’라고 할 정도로 옛사람들은 이를 중요하게 여겼답니다. 중종실록을 보면 이런 의식이 잘 드러나 있어요.
