Did you know our little flock of sheep was started through a friend I met online? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While my daughters were arriving at the age of wanting to raise animals and show them in the fair, my friend's daughters were headed to college and moving out of the house. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had written on my blog about being ready to add sheep to our farm, a full-circle moment for me, a girl who had grown up raising and showing sheep in the county fair. And now I was wanting to experience that same thing with my children. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She read my post and sent me an email. "I have a thought." A few weeks later, she showed up at our farm--a road trip from Connecticut to Maryland, with three lambs in her trailer, a fitting stand, clippers, feed and equipment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And so it began. 11 years later, Penny is still with us, as well as her daughter and they both opened the door to more sheep, many lessons, and many special moments like this. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Never underestimate the beauty of building a community and connecting with the real people behind the screen.
