Time for some Chinese mainland fantasy action! ‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️ Wu Ershan’s PAINTED SKIN: THE RESURRECTION (2012) or DEMON HUNTER: THE RESURRECTION, as this UK release is called, reunites most of the guys from the 2008 feature. Well, Donny Yen apparently were busy elsewhere, but we do get Zhao Wei, Chen Kun, Zhou Xun, Yang Mi and Feng Shaofeng. Personally, I often have a bit of a problem with modern big fantasy epos of this kind. I guess it’s the video game-looking CGI that takes me out of it a bit, but one hour in I must say this, that except for some badly animated snakes, this movie looks pretty good and has a fairly entertaining story.
