Taivaannaula julkaisee kevättalven aikana kansatieteilijä Ildikó Lehtisen artikkeleita suomalais-ugrilaisten kansojen puvuista. Nyt katseet käännetään marien pariin. Marit tunnetaan lauluistaan, tansseistaan ja kansallispuvuistaan. Marit mielellään esiintyvät marilaispuvuissa ja haluavat ulkopuoliselle antaa mielikuvan kansasta, joka käyttää yhä tätä pukua identiteetin merkkinä. "Kuka muu pitäisi marilaispukua, jos emme me?" Niin nuoret kuin vanhat ovat olleet tätä mieltä. Mitä marilainen puku on? Koko marilaisella kielialueella käytetään juhlapukuna valkoista kirjontakoristeista mekkoa, jonka helma on murretun sävyistä tekosilkkiä. Mekkoa pidetään joko vyötettynä tai esiliinan kanssa. Muunnoksia on niin monta kuin tekijöitäkin. Marien pukeutumiseen voi tutustua Taivaannaulan sivuilla! Kuva: Morsiuspukuun pukeutunut nuori itämarilaisnainen Baškortostanista. Hirven synty, the birth of an elk. (The eurasian elk that is, a very close relative to the North American moose.) A comissioned work and a largest one I've burnt so far. . Elk was one of the holy animals in the finnougric mythology. Born in heavens, yet also a son of Hiisi, the god of rocks and hills, later by christian influence used as a synonym of the Devil. Elk was seen as a solitary wanderer of the deepest woodlands, and a majestic king of the forest. There's a notation that the birthmother, emuu of the elk was Laus. But apart from this little note, there's no information found from this deity. She doesn't appear in any form of the birth poems, nor in any hunting poems apart from a single one, where she's asked for luck in bird hunting. . Hi friends!❤️ So far with my jewelry, I've mainly focused on earrings, and only really done custom necklaces. Would you like to see more necklaces for sale in the future as well, or do you mainly wear earrings? ✨ . . . . #slowfashion #slowfashionmovement #whomademyclothes #femmetravel #vintagefashion #handmadejewlery #ethicalfashion #earrings #sustainablefashion #wildandfree #ecofashion #visitfinland #finnougric #tuunaamunperinne #lautanauha #tabletweaving #witchywoman

"We all know that Germanic and Celtic Paganism hasn't been practiced actively for a long time now. What we have today is a theorized reconstruction, which does not equal to the original practice and beliefs of said tribes. That's important to understand the difference (to avoid dogmatism and so on). But there's few cultures left on this planet, that do have many correlations with the pre-christian country-dwellers of what Tacitus referred to as "Germania". Let's look at the Sami, the original inhabitants of northern Lapland, that includes Norway, Sweden and Finland. Tacitus wrote about them about AD 98. Sami people lived in tribes called Siida, who survived off of trapping, fishing and hunting. Sami language is of Finno-Ugric origin, related to Finnish or Estonian with about 50 different dialects. Their culture especially revolves around the reindeer, and reindeer-herding. The Sami are semi-nomadic people, and even though they are not of Indo-European origin (like Germanic, Celtic, Greek, Roman...), it's their spirituality that gives us somewhat of an insight into archaic types of shamanism. The Sami practice shamanism and animism, often with a strong tie to the spiritual realm of the Underworld. Everything in nature is spirit, but every place in nature has their own spirits as well. Their creation myth tells the story of the Giant Biegolmai, in reference to strong, icy winds. They also have their own shaman, called the Noaidi and the chanting is called Yoik, or Jouigan. Over time, unfortunately many converted to Christianity, leaving their ancient customs and beliefs behind, often due to political reasons. Why their spirituality should be important even to people interested in Pagan and Celtic Paganism? Their lifestyle is one that our Ancestors have lived at one point in time. Their spirituality is deeply influenced by Animism and Shamanism. And their tales and rituals have survived for a longer time than most of ours, of us Europeans. We should appreciate the ones that are left and still live the traditional way of the Sami. Once upon a time, all Germanic, Celtic, Roman, etc. Gods evolved out of a very similar type of animistic worldview and way of life."

This is my new design, Muisto. Muisto means "a memory" in Finnish. The pattern is inspired by Finnish tabletwoven bands, found in an iron age grave. | Here a finno ugric Milky Way myth. —The pathway of the birds— The Finns long ago observed that birds used the Milky Way as a guide to travel south, where they believed Lintukoto was, home of birds. The legend told that the birds are guided by a white bird with the head of a maiden who chases them to find their way. She is the goddess Lindu, the queen of the birds and daughter of the god of the sky, Uko. After rejecting the suits of the sun and the moon for being too predictable in their movements and the Pole Star for being fixed, she fell in love with the light of the North for her beauty. They compromised, but the unpredictable and wild Northern Light soon left. Lindu's tears fell in her veil, becoming the milky way while her father took her to the sky where she could reign by his side and thus guide the migration of the birds, following the star path of Lindu's veil. #finnougric #mythology #lindu #milkyway #birds
