It is well and truly April which means that it’s time to take the training wheels off of this Spring, yes? Yes and I spied two vintage sleds on wintry display just outside someone’s front door yesterday and by ‘someone,’ I mean ‘me’ and I know, I know, it’s time to put the sleds away because it is well and truly spring (except on my embarrassing front porch with the sleds). At least it’s spring here inside, where I’ve pulled out the pots and woken them from their long winter’s nap. And while it may not be easy being green, it’s not too difficult collecting green (flower pots) and this shade in particular has been happily presenting itself to me all winter at the shops. I’ve warmed to this deep dark green and I can’t wait for that moment when all of outside turns this deep dark shade as well. There is that moment, each spring, when all is impossibly green, right before summer and it’s heat takes its toll. That’s the best green of all and just happens to coincide with the upswing of market season, when all the best markets are at their peak. Around here, the antique markets are just waking up from winter (like my porch) and will start filling up soon. It’s the most wonderful time, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Yes. Here’s to spring which has well and truly arrived (in spite of my sleds which, incidentally, have been out so long that they’re now early for winter) and to this best shade of green. Yes.
