Tip for when doing dumbbell curls: 1. Keep your hand gripping the dumbbell with your pinky finger against the side of the plate. 2. During the concentric part of the motion (when you have lifted the dumbbell) contract your bicep and rotate your pinky finger as if you are trying to get your palm facing upwards. This will cause maximum contraction which will allow as much blood to circulate around the muscle fibres as possible. It will also help to develop that peak at the top of the bicep that a lot of great bodybuilders have.
