This is the stunning paneling from the Glass Drawing Room at Northumberland House.

Adam was commissioned in 1770 to redecorate the state rooms at Northumberland House, the Duke of Northumberland’s London townhouse. When the house was demolished in 1874, the paneling of the Glass Drawing Room was stored in crates and later rented as party decoration! In 1955, @vamuseum acquired the panels and put them on display in London. In 2018, more panels went on display at @vadundee.

There’s something so modern about this blue and white colour palate - not to mention the dark hardwood floors. I will definitely be filing this away as inspiration for future home decor!

This beautiful portico was designed by Adam, as part of his major remodeling of @compton_verney in c.1760-68.

From this angle, Adam’s ceiling, column capitals, and the door’s pediment all appear three-dimensional. You really get a sense of moving through the space!

Just in case you were sick of Kenwood (if that’s even possible)... here’s another Adam house. This is the Tapestry Drawing Room ceiling at @inveraray_castle — still Adam’s original design as executed c.1773.

It’s so delicate and different in style and colour than many of his other ceiling designs. Also, you can also just see the original Beauvais tapestries, hung in the room in 1787.
