Retro historical or just a tall wannabe Harii p r o b a b l y both!
You all know I am very keen on historical authenticity when it comes to living-history kit and general showing historical things to a wider audience. I cannot stretch enough how important authenticity should be in populair culture either. I hope I make people think about the value of authenticity at least a bit through my blog! However, in everyday life it’s all fun ‘n games obviously. Let’s not overdo it, right? You should wear what you want, authentic-inspired or not.
So recently I have been wearing the lambwool cloak from @descendedfromodin when I’m the forest creating content for my blog. I made a few photos for them and myself. The cloak is VERY nice to wear inbetween cold/warm spring weather and for afternoon forest walks. I got a few funny looks from nordic walkers though!
The Germanic people:
It is always a misconception that "Germanic" is the same as German or Germany.
It's very far from the truth.
And it doesn't get easier for people to understand when we here in Scandinavia also are called Norse or Scandinavians.
But we are the Germanic people.
This is a draft from Wikipedia and their explanation of what Germanic people are:
Germanic people are also called Teutonic, Suebian, or Gothic in older literature are an Indo-European ethnolinguistic group of Northern European origin identified by their use of the Germanic languages.
Their history stretches from the 2nd millennium BCE up to the present day.
Proto-Germanic peoples are believed to have emerged during the Nordic Bronze Age, which developed out of the Battle Axe culture in southern Scandinavia.
During the Iron Age various Germanic tribes began a southward expansion at the expense of Celtic peoples, which led to centuries of sporadic violent conflict with ancient Rome.
It is from Roman authors that the term "Germanic" originated.
The decisive victory of Arminius at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 CE is believed to have prevented the eventual Romanization of the Germanic peoples, and has therefore been considered a turning point in world history.
/Wikipedia
I seldom use the name Germanic for my people for the simple reason that people can understand directly where I'm from by just call me Norse or Scandinavian.
But I am Germanic as all the Norse people (except the Samí people) was for thousand years ago here in Scandinavia.

Picture:
Map over the different european people seen from a Roman perspective.
It's also supposed to be a map of how it was 100bc pre-Chistian time language wise.
The map isn't precise for that reason.
And it's as I explained about the Germanic people, and not every other tribe or people in Europe during that time period.
To Moccus. Celtic God of fertility and boar hunters.
It is believed his name derives from the Proto-Celtic "mokku-" meaning "swine" or "boar".
.
The swine was a sacred animal among the Gauls and also a frequent representative of the corn-spirit or of vegetation divinities.
The flesh of this animal was often buried in the fields to promote fertility.
The Roman's believed Moccus to be an aspect of Mercury - my favorite among the Roman pantheon.
The reason for this little trip into Celtic mythology is the gorgeous necklace I bought from @laura.petresc She crafts the most beautiful handmade jewelry. She formed a little hunting scene into the material which you can see on the second picture.
I am so in love with this necklace and so happy to own one of Laura's beautiful creations.

Los últimos días de Loki. Parte 2
Dijo Thor.
.
-No te precipites. Dijo Kvasir. Mira ahí, en el fuego...
