Race Week Homework #4➡️Run the Numbers. Review your training, the timing and the conditions to find power in numbers, and fortify your goals on race day.
607 miles covered thus far, now just 26.2 to go.
27 days over 90 degrees in Chicago this summer (last year we had SIX) means you can handle any weather that comes your way.
125 days of running to prepare for 1 victory lap.
This season a team was born. Equal parts talent, grit and passion. Tomorrow they toe the line to not only achieve their best, but to move our sport forward. This proud Coach cannot WAIT to see what unfolds tomorrow on the dashed blue line. From Downtown to Lakeview to Pilsen and Chinatown – Chicago: Meet the Windrunners. #nikechicago #nikewomen #nikerunning
Race Week Homework #3 ➡️ Remember your toughest moments. Whether they were training or racing, list out your top 3 hardest days leading up to this race. Why were they difficult, what did you do to manage the challenges and how did you ultimately overcome? Those are the tools that you put in your pocket on Sunday.
Race Week Homework #2 ➡️ Gratitude. Make a list of the individuals who have helped you through this season – held you up, held you accountable, gave you something to strive for. Let them know the impact that they have had on your journey. Carry their support with you on race day - let it lift you in times of need.
As both a small business owner and a coach, a lot of my days end up in a blur – like being in a blender and if I’m not doing enough or working hard enough its just gonna chew me up and spit me out. But every so often the blender pauses for a brief moment, I’m able to step back, and everything comes into focus. Last night was one of those moments. Walking into the Nike 003 race last evening, I knew that our team was already there, that the men’s race had already started, and that the women were already warming up. I was told by more than a handful of people “there are so many EDGE runners here tonight” which always makes me proud, but that statement didn’t hit me until I saw this image, this moment. A team united – whether they were there to run, cheer or volunteer – they were there to do it together. To this team, and to all of our EDGE Athletes: Thank You. Thank you for having each other’s backs, for being such outstanding examples of Community, and for giving this coach a moment to hold onto. #EDGEfamily
