This is the only time I will ever feature a Mario Badescu product so don’t start talking shit. . I want to share with you all the joy that is an AHA (exfoliating) body wash. For you lazy bodies who kick ice under the fridge instead of picking it up, this one stop shop is especially for you. . Recap: AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) exfoliate the uppermost layers of our skin. Doing so reveals fresher skin that appears much smoother and brighter. With continued (and proper) use, your skin and pores will look more refined and luminous. And we all know body washes keep tissue crumbs out your butt so no need to expound on that. Mix it all together and you know that it’s the best of both worlds! [sorry] . Who is this great for? Virtually everyone but especially those with body acne and keratosis polaris (aka “chicken skin”) which is caused when hair follicles are clogged by an excess of keratin that form tiny hard plugs in the skin. This is what prompted me to hoard exfoliating body washes and lotions in the first place and it has helped so much. I tend to concentrate on the drier areas of my body like feet, knees and elbows and following up with an exfoliating lotion is almost unfair. . There aren’t a TON of options as far as washes are concerned but these are the most accessible. I’ve spent the most time with the Glytone (8.8% glycolic!) which is my favorite. I always purchase it in the set that comes with the corresponding lotion and I have no complaints. This formula is not free of parabens, fragrance or dyes. Same with the Mario Badescu one except we get bonus points for SLS. So we are far from clean beauty town but these aren’t deal breakers for me. The MB wash has a strong old lady perfumey scent, is a tad more drying and its exfoliation power is minimal BUT it’s more cost effective than the former. . Any exfoliating washes you love? I just felt like taking a minute to proclaim my love for these two new-to-me products. I received this @glytoneusa Ultra Softening Heel and Elbow Cream in my @dermstore beautyfix box *yesterday* and I'm completely in love. It is hard to describe how well this works except to say I was totally shocked and my feet have never felt so smooth. I have seen the @olehenriksen Cold Plunge Pore Mask around so I knew it would be a beautiful greenish blue color, but I was still surprised by how refreshing it it felt. My skin isn't exactly sensitive but it is very reactive and masks can burn a little when first applied. This did not give me any discomfort and it rinsed off fairly easily and gave an intense cooling effect. The other thing I loved was that it dries down but stays flexible so you can still move your face without the mask cracking or pulling your skin! I have large pores, especially on my nose, and this actually did deep clean and my face was visibly brighter and pores were minimized.
