Glam-ing up the morning animal chores before heading up to take the @everydayplastic crowdfunder books to @beachguardian then heading to the beach somewhere my 4th icy sea-swim this week... it was pretty funny wading through the waves in my swimsuit next to two guys in full hood & wetsuit to surf . . . This is my second #noshoppingforayear fail! ‍♀️ I almost didn’t buy it, then I entered the comp to see if I could win it, then I had to give in, for my birthday, ok?! Plus, it’s super ethical, locally handmade and supporting WOC in business, so it’s basically as good as shopping gets so that totally excuses it It’s also the most comfy jumpsuit ever (@ajabarber you were sooo right!) and my fave colour too. Back from an amazing two days at the first @goodfestcornwall and it was energising to be surrounded by so many creative & kind people. . This quote was the key takeaway for me and was presented by the hilarious @markshayler (Go see him talk!) There was loads of other fabulous content too and I’ve got many notes and actions to go through today. . A fantastic, and often hilarious, insight into Mark's highs and lows during his career, where he discusses our need to completely turn away from the belief that you need to be hard-faced, ruthless and (in some cases) nasty to get on in business. Who wouldn’t want to dive right in? . . . This morning I had my 3rd sea swim this week... yes. It was freezing. But I think it’s also slightly addictive So far this week I’ve been sea swimming, gig rowing and running... this is highly out of character . . . So much so that I’ve been a bit surprised by it and wondering where the sudden shift in perspective has come from. After so many years of mild depression and struggling to be motivated to do anything at all, this is a shock to the system... I’m not sure if it’s the result of drinking less @101tokens or having a bit more personal space and time now the kids are a bit more independent, or a bit of both. But i’m defo finding that the more I do, the more I feel like doing...which sounds simple enough but is amazingly hard to kick start when you just don’t even want the day to start at all... . . . Anyway, I’ve also been enjoying the continued brain activity and connections after @goodfestcornwall and I think I may have found my first ever piece of smartie lid... literally the day after meeting @smartie_lids_on_the_beach . . . Swim finished with cleaning the sand off my feet in the morning dew and daisies, then off to college for the day...deadline approaching! . . . There are places, events and more importantly people who are making things happen. Attempting to bring about positive change. The people and speakers behind GoodFest are just these sort of people. . . . It’s used to be common to hear “I’m only one person what sort of a difference can I make” this needs to be banished from our vocabulary, we all have a duty of care to Act now to save our home. ... . and for all those ‘one persons’ to start believing, to stand together and believe in the power of change. @extinctionrebellion have proved this in their non aggressive protests. . . While it may take me a few days to process all I’ve been immersed in over such a short space of time at Goodfest. I feel lucky to have attended this event but even without doing so the word can be spread. . . We all know it’s time to change and we all have to #bethechange . .
