We had an unexpected celebrity guest at James A. Garfield NHS yesterday! Robert A. “Bob” Taft III is a member of the Taft political family of Cincinnati. His great-great-grandfather was Alphonso Taft, who served as U.S. Secretary of War, U.S. Attorney General, and U.S. Minister to both Austria-Hungary and Russia. Alphonso Taft was also an acquaintance of James A. Garfield. His great-grandfather was William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States and 10th Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. President Taft’s home in Cincinnati is William Howard Taft National Historic Site, a unit of the @nationalparkservice (just like us)! Bob Taft had his own successful career in the law and politics. He was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Secretary of State before serving as the 67th Governor of Ohio from 1999-2007. BEFORE I WRITE MY MESSAGE TO @johnkasich ,the #GovernorOfOhio ,let me say this; MY YOUNGER SISTER HAS #DownSyndrome ,I have a nephew with #DownSyndrome ,and a dear family friend's son, also has #DownSyndrome - Now, let me share this, as well; When I was pregnant with my daughter, Moon, 17yrs ago, my #Obstetrician recommend I consent to the basic screenings for Down Syndrome, and then, further diagnostic testing, if abnormalities were detected in the screening. This was recommended because I have a sibling with Down Syndrome, (aka "family history"). I declined any and all screenings/tests, because I had already made the decision to keep my baby, regardless of any abnormalities. THAT WAS MY "CHOICE". And EVERY woman should have the right to decide what to do with her pregnancy, and her body, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THAT "CHOICE" MAY BE. So, @johnkasich who do you think you are? You aren't God, in fact, you are a liar, because during the #2016Primaries ,you actually declared yourself a #moderate . Clearly that was a sneaky attempt to trick voters into thinking you could offer them the "best of both worlds". And now, after signing THIS #unconstitutional #law you call the, #DownSyndromeNonDiscriminationAct , I hope you've let go of the delusion that you will ever be elected #POTUS because #America has learned a hard lesson about electing #snakes (aka #Trump ), & we aren't dumb enough to do it again. So, what's your plan? You can't FORCE a woman to have the initial, Down Syndrome screenings, & you sure as hell can't force her to consent to the diagnostic tests that may follow - & who would even pay for that? Remember, without the diagnostic tests, (the ones that COULD cause a #miscarriage ), there can be no definitive diagnosis. So, basically, you've signed into law, an Act that will never be enforced, as it will certainly be challenged in court...good job, waste your constituents' hard earned $ fighting an endless line of #lawsuits that will be brought in opposition of this "law". Also, may I offer a suggestion... IF YOU ARE A MAN WHO OPPOSES #ABORTION , THEN GET A #VASECTOMY ! Try working on THAT as your next chiseling law... #ProChoice #KeepYourLawsOffMyBody
