Sometimes when at the lowest point of your life you are given a great opportunity. The opportunity to make a decision of whether you are going to grow and learn, or simply die. Although I had no realization of what had actually happened, I woke from my 4 day coma a different person. As the days go by I continually reflect on what put me in that position to begin with. A negative attitude and depressed mind set about the hardships life threw at me. Now I see life differently and use my struggles for strength. Dwell on the negativity and it will consume you. Where do I even begin... Thankful? Yes very thankful indeed, for another year added to my lifetime. The trials, tribulations and celebrations were all so worth it. I’ve always been so anxious about the future and so hard on myself that I sometimes forget to stop and breathe. Caring about what people thought of me more than what I thought of myself. In the year that has been I’ve let go of the “abantu bozithini syndrome” and have grown into my own, actively going after my dreams and taking risks that have been frowned upon - that’s the best gift! Believing in the unknown and trusting that the universe will respond to my requests is a serious thing. The “me” I was back then would have been freaking out given the situation right now, but instead I’m at peace.
