FUNemployment has ended but so has our 1st week of work✔️
•
We were so sad to leave Orlando and start over again. We had the blues for the first couple of days after we moved but thankfully they disappeared as soon as we began exploring Savannah. After a week here, we are all settled in + have begun our new adventure.
•
The first week of a new travel assignment is busy and usually filled with a lot of anxiety. The main source (for us) stems from anticipation + fear of the unknown that goes hand in hand with change. Change is something that neither of us are really big fans of yet we live a life full of change every 3 months Luckily, the anxiety tends to fade once we get to spend a few days in the hospital and we’re pretty good at adapting quickly to the change. It makes us stronger, more resilient nurses but having a travel partner makes the transition so much easier. I don’t think we could (or would want to) do it without each other.

↠Do you avoid change or embrace it?
↠Do you have any anxieties//fears when dealing with something new and how do you best handle them?

We’ve already finished 1 month here @ MHU which means we’re already 1/3 of the way through this assignment!

Travel nursing is so weird — when you finally start to get comfortable and get used to how the hospital and unit runs, it’s already time to leave. One thing is for sure, you don’t get stagnant!

Sometimes I still have to convince myself that this isn’t a dream & I actually live here

When I decided to move to Guam I had a picture painted in my head of what the island life would be like. Little did I know that this place would take me for a spin! I’ve experienced so much life in myself by being in this beautiful place, but I’ve also had to go through some ups and downs to get there. It’s true that us gypsies can adapt to any environment, but that doesn’t mean it’s always immediate. Thankful for the self growth I’ve experienced over the past few months. I always seem it amaze myself when I get out of my comfort zone and overcome obstacles.✨

Even though my job is stressful AF and I spend most of my time running around not knowing where anything is- I’m happy California gives their nurses breaks!!! ⚕️ I have a nurse at work that takes my phone so my break is uninterrupted. I get one 30 minute break, and three 15 minute breaks. UNINTERRUPTED!!!!! I have not had a job that gave me breaks since I was probably 18... that’s 12 years of no breaks. It’s gonna be hard if I ever decide to go back to nursing in Naptown where the hospitals automatically take 30 min of pay out of your 12 hour shift and expect you to just figure your break out yourself. (Which means no break. And if you want that 30 minutes of pay back, you have to fill out paperwork stating why you didn’t get a break and turn it in... which probably takes about 30 minutes, which is why no one takes their break and we all just deal with being robbed 30 minutes of time.) which is 72 hours a year if you’re full time.... so that’s a whole lotta money!!!! anyway- rant complete!
