This past week marked my second trip to Yosemite. And the number one thing on my list was to visit the famous Glacier Point. However Mother Nature decided to dump a winter storm on Yosemite which resulted in the closing of the road to Glacier Point. But as luck would have it (combined with 3 days of positive persuasive thoughts) the road was opened for less than 24 hours on our last day in the park. We got up at 3:15AM to catch the sunrise from the top. And we were rewarded with one of the best sunrises I’ve ever seen. Right now the sun comes up directly behind Half Dome which gives the entire scene a lovely glow. But I think the best part about sunrise in a place as magnificent as this is that everyone present observes in silence. Yosemite Alert! Every year the Friday before Memorial Day half dome half dome cables are up. However, this year they are not in place yet for the Memorial Day weekend. Please keep checking recreation.gov website for updates on when they will be up for the season. This picture is from last year when I hiked half dome.
