A group of rabbits is sometimes referred to as a “fluffle”, and I’d say that would apply to these four crazies. Left to right we have Amber, who is planning her next escapade, Snow, who has been a good little bunny sitting still the whole time, Honey, who always seems to have her tongue out for photos, and Alice who just discovered she can climb and is now setting her eyes on new heights. (See my stories for a photo of that ) Amber and Alice are staying with me, but Snow and Honey will be off to new homes in a couple of weeks. I love when their new owners tell me what name they chose for their bun ahead of time, though, because it’s so much more fun to know them by a name then just by their ID number.

I’m knitting my first ever pair of handspun socks!! I’m REALLY excited about this because it’s been on the docket for years, but it’s been one of those milestones I’ve shied away from. I’m a pretty fanatical sock knitter, I LOVE knitting socks, I love wearing hand knit socks, I love everything about them. But for some reason spinning for socks had been another of those great scary spinning things I didn’t want to “mess up”. It’s funny how you get those ideas in your head and just stick with them for so long. I bought and spun this fibre (dyed by @poppyyarnandfibre) last year but it’s just now I’m knitting them. I didn’t get a ton of yardage - about 225 yds, so they’ll just be shorty socks, which I am totally cool with. This will be a nice snack knitting project - I’m still reeling from my collection I’ve been knitting forever (coming out in October with @knotionsmag!) and a nice simple sock is totally up my alley right now. So a little about the yarn - the fibre is polled Dorset, spun at 32/34 WPI for the singles then chain plied to preserve the colour shifts that drew me to this fibre in the first place. Final yarn is about 16 WPI, and both singles and ply have a very tight twist to put up with the massive amounts of abuse I put my socks through. You can see I’m knitting cuff down, and although I’ve been knitting socks for roughly 15 years (!!) I’ve never knit a toe up sock. I have another sock yarn I spun last year and I think with that one I’ll try my first pair of toe up - I can definitely see the benefit of that particular construction for hand spun.
