비가오고 꿉꿉하고 몸은 축축 쳐지지만 밥은또 야무지게 챙겨먹고있어요~
감자와 차돌박이 호박을 넣어 진하게 우려낸 멸치육수로 짜글짜글 끓여낸 찌개는 여름 단골메뉴에요~이거 하나만 있어도 밥 두그릇은 기본!
저는 명란젓갈이랑 김도 같이 먹어서 오늘 세그릇입니다 ㅋㅋㅋ
저는 빠마 안하고 열세팅으로 머리 손질하는데요~습한날씨에 열세팅이고 드라이고 안통해서 오늘 드뎌 연중행사로 미용실에왔어요~저는 미용실 가는게 왜이리 귀찮은지 일년에 많아야 두번인데말이죠오늘 큰일하나 치렀네요 ㅎㅎ 저녁 맛있게드세요~~

Many have asked for more Haenyeo posts and I’m more than happy to oblige since it’s a rare look into the lives of some amazing halmoni or halmang (the Jeju term for grandma). ♀️

[The Haenyeo Diaries] This halmoni haenyeo is 77 years old. She has worked as a haenyeo so long that she doesn't even remember the age she started. But, she jokingly told me she's definitely been doing it longer than I've been alive. And just like my experience with a halmoni in Seoul for another photography project, it was difficult getting the first initial shots, which is quite understandable since this is their job and, in general, the elderly here in Korea rarely want their photos taken. Luckily, after visiting them countless times after their outings, they have gotten accustomed to me and have opened up with more conversation and interaction. I can even say they consider me part of their "clan" in some way (it’s nice being in a clan). Interestingly enough, now they order me to do the heavy stuff like carry their nets and help weigh their catch. When I'm not helping them, I'm fortunate enough to get these photographs.

Jason did the talking as they eyed me up and down. They didn’t look too impressed. I said I just wanted to ask a few questions about their work and their life.

“Were not interesting,” one of the them said. “Go to the museum. All the information you need is there.”

Mrs. Goh couldn’t go to school when she was young because it cost too much. She had to learn to read and write at a free school provided by the state after normal school hours were over. As a result, at thirteen years old, she had to start life as a Haenyeo.

“We know we’re the last generation to do this,” said Mrs. Goh as the three of them waddled toward their insertion point. “The younger generation won’t do it.”

À part Kakdougui je connais pas d'autres restaurants coréen sur Paris qui font des ragoûts comme celui-ci à partager donc c'est vraiment une adresse que j'apprécie !

Huge thanks to the person who recently visited and enjoyed eating at one of my favorite noodle shops near Hyochang Park. I usually get messages telling me that X restaurant has closed down and I should update my blog accordingly, so this type of message is one that I really welcome and appreciate!

Blog excerpt: There are very few restaurants that become an integral part of the local community these days, especially with the gradual decline of mom-and-pop restaurants and the surge of larger chains with unlimited financial backing. So, it was such a relief when this quaint noodle shop called “Delicious Feast Noodles” #맛있는잔치국수 was able to survive a recent takeover by yet another coffee shop that replaced its iconic location right outside of Hyochang Park Station. Fortunately, the owner was able to find a nearby location just up the street (exit 5 of Hyochang Park Station) to continue operations for her regular customers.

Run by an endearing halmoni who has been the backbone of the neighborhood for over 15 years, she has cared for each and every customer like her own. Her generosity and home-style noodles have caught the attention of media, making her a celebrity-like figure in the area. Despite her success, she hasn’t budged on her insanely low prices—3,000 won across the board—since its inception. That’s right, for a cup of coffee you can enjoy a righteous bowl of janchi guksu #잔치국수(“feast noodles”), bibim guksu #비빔국수 (spicy cold noodles), and yeolmu guksu #열무국수 (noodles with radish kimchi) for 3,000 won each. They are gigantic in size and flavor, leaving most customers (myself included) baffled and guilty at the end of their meals when they fork over a measly 3,000 won. What’s even crazier is you can super size #곱배기 any of the dishes free of charge, which gives you an idea why customers come from near and far for these special noodles.
