While headstand may be one of the most accessible inversions (and tempting) it is also one of the most dangerous. A lack of shoulder stability and strength along with body awareness could lead to injury of the cervical spine (neck). Las preguntas son muchas y las respuestas son pocas.
Practice rant: as a total 180 from yesterday I wanted to come here and describe my practice today as being flat out lousy.
I mean I did it, don't get me wrong; but I was distracted, sloppy, collapsing a lot more than usual in my #thirdseries arm balances, and just overall I couldn't stick to my breath and flow rhythmically through my practice.
But I didnt give up and I finished it, so do any of those reasons justify me labeling it as ‘lousy’ or ‘bad?’
.
I've been thinking a lot about #Santosha (one of the Niyamas) and all of the Kleshas recently.
There are 5 Kleshas and, in more or less words, they are obstacles that prevent us from realizing inner equanimity.
Dvesha is the 4th Klesha and it is commonly thought of as 'aversion.' Dvesha is becoming consumed by aversion or avoidance of that which we don't like.
Think about when we make situations, or maybe even people, dualistic, judging or categorizing them into black or white, good or bad, right or wrong, successful or a total failure.
This distortion creates stress, anxiety, negativity, and in the end, can even end up converting itself into fear.
Fear is actually the 5th Klesha - #abhinevesa, and while I don't consider labeling my practice to be so extreme, even the simple act of judging it as good or bad is the start to a tendency that, in the long run, will have zero positive impact on my personal growth.
Let go and just accept. Be content with what is. (That’s Santosha).

Additionally, catching myself and stopping the negative thought process allows me to see my practice from the other point of view, recognizing the great things that I was able to do too.
There were ups, downs, and everything in between, which is actually a lot more realistic.

Day✌of #InversionsandSunshine is a stag leg variation. This is one of my favorite variations and also a great one to practice if you’re newer to inversions. ♀️
The legs act as a counterbalance which can make finding balance in your inversions a little bit easier.
This is how I first started playing with a funky arm base like I’m showing here.

Have you been doing something new this week end ?
I had the chance to have my best friend at my place for few days, and this week end we decided to do to Oeshinensee, a UNESCO world heritage. I have been quite a lot there, it’s one of my favorite place in Switzerland but that was the first time I go there hiking in winter. And the atmosphere was so different.
It was so beautiful and so different from in summer as the lake is totally frozen. So you can just walk on it and admire the beautiful mountains around you.
Today I went snowshoeing with my best friend as well which was lots of fun ❄️☀️

Another little asana that is just, well... Twisted!
First time I saw this one - #koundinyasana - I thought, ‘oh that doesn't look too hard,’ but then you try it and that lift up is HEAVY. Especially if you're trying to keep your legs straight and breath steady the whole time. ♀️ This is another #ashtangayoga #thirdseries posture, and sometimes I have to bend the legs coming up on the second side and sometimes I can leave them straight.
Can assure you that one way or the other, though, doesnt actually matter.
There's no reward for straight legs or for making it look pretty, for that matter.
.
And Naitra is waiting for me so patiently, although she doesn't pay me even an ounce of attention the entire time here. There are far too many other more interesting things happening constantly in the park. - People, sticks, BIRDS!

Looking to be in a constant state of happiness is what causes us pain. The endless pursuit of joy and contentment all of the time is what detrimentally keeps us locked in our own cycle of suffering.
This is an idea I heard or read recently, sorry I can't remember where, but it's really stuck with me and I've been thinking of it ever since.
This week, more or less, I've felt tired, and unenthused. I know the full moon is Friday but I haven't been sleeping well, and things that normally don't hurt or haven't for a long time, my elbow for example, have seemingly snuck up on me out of nowhere to bother me again.
Does this matter though? Should I stop practicing because it hurts or because I'm tired or because I don't feel like it?
I don't think so.
Searching for things to feel good, to be easy, to be exciting, to be just what we want them to be all of the time is never going to leave us with anything other than disappointment.
It's not realistic, and in the end I think it's more important to stop seeking to make it this way and to start learning how to accept what is.
Swaying with the extreme highs and the extreme lows won't leave us with anything besides instability.
Give in to it all and find a steady calm.
Easier said than done, but every day is a new opportunity to at least try.
