The #hearingaid battle. Every time they go on it takes a good 15-30 minutes for Lucy to be ok with them. My momma heart is so full though when every time my older girls see the hearing aids come out they go to Lucy’s side. They try to calm her by rubbing her arms, legs, and head while softly singing and distracting her with toys. It’s literally one of the only ways that Lucy stops crying. Her sisters are such good caretakers for Miss Lucy and they HATE to see her sad. It’s the sweetest thing to watch. .
On the hearing aid note... we tried for over a year with the standard mold hearing aids and had no luck. Lucy would cry like this EVERY TIME we put them on and would never calm down. After reprogramming them and trying a lot of different things, she eventually would get to the point of putting herself to sleep every time she got them on. The BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid) is what she has on now in this video and it is much better. It still takes her a while to get out of the “sad zone” but she WILL get out of it at some point. Has anyone experienced something like this before with their little ones or themselves? If these don’t get better for her I’m to the point of throwing in the hearing aid towel all together! #downsyndrome #theluckyfew .
