Life lessons can be found around every corner. Today we were on our way to an appointment and while driving thru an uninhabited area of Bali we saw these three little kittens on the middle of a road. They weren’t in great shape and with all the cars and motorbikes driving along this road there was a good chance they could get hit. We stopped and thought about what we could do. We had no idea how we could rescue them or where to take them in the middle of nowhere. We decided to put them into a safe space away from the traffic and moved on. We left with a bad feeling in our stomachs. How could we leave these animals behind, knowing there is a chance they would not survive? So 30 min later we were back to see if they are still there knowing we had to do something whatever that might be. I left my wife with the cats found a store and got a box from them and decided we are going on an adventure ride with the kittens between my legs (constantly trying to escape) back to Ubud. Here is where we found Villa Kitten - a foundation that helps Cats purely founded from donations - they took the 3 kittens and will do their best to get them back to health and ready to be adopted. It made me realize how easy it could be to just close my eyes and keep going, and how wrong it is at the same time. It took time, a change of plans, trust that there will be help and money to do the rescue. But knowing that these three kittens will most likely have a chance to live made it all worth it. My lesson for today - not to close my eyes when help is needed no matter if human, animal, environment or whatever else.
