I have been herbal body oiling for years however have neglected to really target the all important breast area. It wasn’t until a benign lump was found that I really took notice of this delicate area properly. Having said that - it did take me 18 mths!! Planning to move country took a lot out of us. We were rung out and stressed. My husband had his own business in the UK which made uprooting so much harder and it was years in the works with uncertainty of when and how. It’s only been recently that I feel I can focus and concentrate on herbs that will support my lymphatic system and liver for hormonal balance. This is where the magick of rosemary comes in with his powerful and warming circulatory properties to get the blood moving and a stimulating decongestant for the lymph tissue. I also tinctured some for my cold hands and feet. Infused fresh in organic olive oil , I am deciding still what to combine with him? I have yarrow , dandelion root + leaf , comfrey root + leaf , lavender , calendula , rose , chamomile , chickweed + cleavers , all infusing separately. This is not an essential oil ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But this oil, oh golly is it ever essential. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Herbal infused oils are made by using the whole plant and steeping it in a carrier oil for 4-6 weeks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Like a tea, the plants are then strained out. You are left with an oil full of the medicinal properties of that plant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Herbal Body Oils can be rubbed on the skin on problem areas or all over the body for a calming massage. Pouring in the bath is always a lovely way to receive the plant’s medicine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is different than Essential Oils. These oils are super concentrated and potent. This means they are to be used with caution and mindfully. Always diluted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Essential Oils are only the volatile part of the plant (it’s scent) along with a teeny tiny part of it’s medicinal properties. They are a smelling experience. Aromatherapy. They are not the be all & end all. I settled on names for these lovely ladies. Margaret and Madelene. Margaret (the blue one) is named after my paternal grandmother for who I am named (she was Margaret Phillips, and Phillips is my middle name). My Gramie was sweet, and the most nurturing, and she loved to sit on her porch and watch the cardinals, her favorite bird. The sweet and floral scent reminds me of her. ⠀⠀ The Madelene is more light, airy, citrusy and woodsy, which is so fitting for the name of my maternal great grandmother. She was a spiritual woman, called herself a minister, and lived in a primitive cabin on a mountain in Costa Rica for many years. I was lucky enough as a child to spend time with her and feel her pervasive warmth. ⠀⠀ Come by @jacksofknoxville to test both of these lovely ladies out!! ⠀
