Do you know that the Trullo house is one of the first methods to evade the taxes in the past ? The trullo’s dry-wall construction, without mortar, was imposed on new settlers so that they could dismantle their shelters in a hurry: an efficient means to evade taxes on new settlements under the Kingdom of Naples. Nice is it? #apulia #trullo #alberobello #whitehomes #italia_super_top #rosyontravel #wonderfulitaly #europe_pics #travelcommunity #special_shotz #historygram #weareinpuglia #artcities #unescoworldheritage
Boating in Korostovo pond.
Photograph was taken by Samuel Hopwood, who worked as a representative of “Kodak” in Moscow before revolution. Hopwood enjoyed taking photos of his neighbors and friends and created a large archive of photographs depicting life in pre-revolutionary Russia.

Medieval Knight Sculpture in the grounds of the 900 year old neo-classical mansion that is Delapre Abbey. This is one of 7 carved sculptures carved out of huge tree trunks by chainsaw artists Daniel Cordell, Simon O’Rourke and Harry Thomas. The sculptures, which depict English knights from the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries were chosen for their links to significant periods in Northampton. Apparently the other 6 have been given homes at other historic town landmarks. Now loaded with this information I am of course going to have to seek them out as they are very cool. #northampton #northamptonshire #history #woodcarving #woodworking #wood #sculpture #chainsawart #delapreabbey #medievalknight #landscapephotography #tree #treesculpture #amateurphotography #pictureoftheday #photooftheday #instagood #historygram #instahistory #lovenorthampton #love #art #instaart #britain #england #visitbritain #gb #lovegreatbritain #medieval @delapreabbey

Jenny Joseph stands in for Columbia Pictures Logo, 1992.
_
Artist Michae Deas was contracted to paint a new logo for Columbia in 1991. On the first day of the project he needed a stand in to start mapping out his idea, Jenny Joseph was with a friend of his that day and agreed to help out on her lunch break.
She hadn’t modeled before or since. “I just showed up and they draped a sheet around me and I held up a regular side lamp. I never thought it would make it to the big screen and a museum.” Deas liked her look so much he stuck with it. It took him two months to finish the image.
