Well friends, I don’t have a word for 2019 but I’m calling this year: ”Beauty in the Making.” And I feel like I should give you all a fair warning that this year my feed might look a bit different... There will be some incomplete, messy views showing up here and there, but I so hope you’ll join me in stories as I continue sharing the sure-to-be-a-roller-coaster journey of the restoration of the home I’m standing in front of. A home that’s been vacant for many years and I’ve prayed/dreamed of bringing back to life for three years now (often times with my daughter in tow declaring she’s not living here ‘cause her mom’s a psycho house-stalker and prayed our way to our current home too, which she hated the first few months ). *Side-note: we won’t be living in this home. I’ve partnered with an investor and we’ll be selling it. . This covered up, rotting beautiful-mess of a home is the culmination of a long-time dream for me. Restoring / renovating our last two homes was oddly healing for me and paralleled so much of what I am living out in real life: Beauty from brokenness. For me it looked like entering the world of single-mama-ing post-divorce... but finding beauty and joy and new purpose. For you, beauty in the making might look different. But God is the author of restoration and redemption and I’m humbled to be a tiny part of showcasing that. He takes brokenness and makes it beautiful. And that’s my hope and vision for this home. . A friend took this photo April of 2018 just after we stood on the sidewalk outside for an impromptu prayer-session on a walk to get pizza downtown... We prayed that God would make a way for me to buy and restore this house just as I’d prayed many times. But on this day I had a deep-down peace and reassurance that God was going to somehow work out the details so I asked her to snap a photo. Despite what I could see (that the owner had just turned me down for the third time over a 3-year period) I knew He was going to see it through. So here we are. Feeling equally excited & overwhelmed. Equally sure & scared. Eager to see this restoration story unfold and so grateful to have each one of you on the journey! ❤️
