Swipe to see the three mugshots for the feral young kitties I trapped. If you follow my personal Instagram you’ve already gotten most of this story. These guys hang out behind a restaurant I frequent and I’ve been seeing them since they were around 4 months. I estimate the grey and black ones around 6 months now- the tabby may be up to a year old, she’s a bit bigger than them. The other week I saw them eating trash so I decided it was time to do something, especially as the weather was about to drop below freezing. I rented two humane traps from @austin_humane for free and set out to trap them. There’s 6 of them so on Friday I captured three (which took two trips). Pretty successful for my first ever attempt trapping! I was planning to go back for the other three this weekend but have come down with a cold I took the kitties to the city shelter @austinanimalcenter and from there they’ll be transferred to @austin_humane to be neutered and vaccinated. If they’re friendly they may be put up for adoption if not they’ll be rereleased to where they were found (but at least now vaccinated and fixed. I was also very glad to hear a couple girls that work at the restaurant they’re behind keep tabs on them and feed them occasionally. Very grateful for my old coworkers and friends at @austin_humane (especially @cameronrichmond ) for their advice and their willingness to see if these lil ones could be adoptable.
Penélope lived outside for 6 months of her kitten life and she's now about 9 months old. This is her life now. Lounging and enjoying snuggles. $3k in medical expenses was worth it. #humanetrapping #imherperson #rescue #rescuecats #rescuekittens #lungworm #giardia #enlargedheart #neuterandspay #veterinarymedicine
