I have shared a similar post previously, but have many new followers who need to hear this message of hope... . 96 days in the NICU, Born 3.5 months early, Twin, 2 separate grade IV brain bleeds, 2 neurosurgeries, 1 eye surgery, 6 blood transfusions, 5 + months respiratory support, Almost 100 doctor/therapy appointments since discharge, A bargain multimillion dollar investment, . And now we have a stander! . This kid makes every person fall in love with him, he is incredibly verbal and observant of everything around him. He hardly cries even when he gets shots, he is tough as nails. . In the NICU, we were told many times that his neurological state was unknown and that we would just have to wait and see. To put it in perspective, most kids with bilateral grade 4 brain bleeds do not make it or are severely impacted. Luckily, his bleeds happened at separate times which seemed to work in his favor. . His brain has been affected by his hemorrhaging, but only time will tell to what extent. The brain is powerful and can compensate when there is damage which is what his brain is doing and we get to watch it in real time. He progresses daily. To watch him work hard and hit milestones brings tears to my eyes. There is not a word to describe how proud I am of this soul. . Rolling over, eating, sitting up or walking are fun milestones for most babies. But they are small hills in comparison to what they mean for Loch. For him, they are triumphs. I’ve seen beautiful views atop a hill, but when you are looking down from the summit of Everest the view is simply richer. . Lochlan means warrior. Timothy means to honor God. I can’t think of a better way to honor God than to share living, breathing and standing proof with the world that, through battle after battle, miracles happen. . Little Kai got officially diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy this morning.
