Just hangin’ out amongst the clouds in Myanmar! ☁️⠀ •⠀ This pagoda was even more beautiful than we’d seen in pictures, and visiting was such a great experience! ⠀ •⠀ We took a boat across the river at sunrise to the town of Mingun. By 6:45 am when we arrived the little town was already in hustle-bustle mode and we were able to see all the locals getting their day started & the monks doing their morning rounds. We actually didn’t see another tourist for hours! ⠀ •⠀ Tips for visiting:⠀ - it cost 5000 MMK ($3.50 USD) per person entrance fee to Mingun which gives you access to all the pagodas over there (note: they don’t have individual entrance fees but it’s always nice to make a small donation at the pagodas you visit) ⠀ - highly recommend chartering a private boat early for sunrise! The public boats don’t start until late morning and for not too much more $ you get a private boat that waits for you and takes you back when you’re ready. We paid $20 USD total for the tuk tuk & boat round trip. ⛵️⠀ - there is a dress code, so no spaghetti straps or shoes are allowed at the pagodas!
