My family is grieving these days and I find myself better understanding why I make and why I’m on Instagram. Some of it is healthy—it’s an important outlet for me. A pressure valve. A rebalancing act. But some of it isn’t. It’s a distraction that gives me undue permission not to address reality and my feelings about that reality. Today is not the day to fix what’s wrong, so I’m just embracing the part of it that’s right—the recharge of my patience reservoir so I can be there for my family. In that spirit, here’s my latest creation: another pair of #philippapants by @annaallenclothing (the genius who gives us all nice looking-beware there’s a butt shot in there for you) made in Big Sur canvas from @stonemountainfabric and a beautiful main button from @sarkirsten The canvas is lighter than the black pair I made and as a result these are 1000 times more comfortable. Once again no adjustments to the pattern, except maybe the length (I never follow a pattern’s hem instructions—out of laziness not method ). I made these in the hopes of creating something similar in spirit to the #ilanakohn umber huxie pants, and in honor of that inspiration, wear these pants with the IK mapes shirt.
